What a fantastic yet challenging morning at Love Barrow Awards HQ – going through every single nomination to short-list down to three in every category, giving us out 27 finalists in the 9 categories.
It wasn’t easy – and despite a room full of people all casting two scores out of ten for each nomination, amazingly some categories still came in with only a few points separating the top three. The maths alone in adding up and double checking the scores was challenge enough, thankfully we had help…in the shape of a super-human calculator in one of the judges…
John Irving reminded us of the confidential nature of the scoring and outcome – it’s a long time until the golden envelopes get opened in March, but he also said it was quite possible we’d forget who’d won which category by the time we’d finished.. not sure if he pulled some kind of Jedi mind trick, but I can’t remember a thing…
“THESE ARE NOT THE GOLD ENVELOPES YOU ARE LOOKING FOR”
The short-listed people and groups will be contacted this week by John to give them the good news, in fact he’s started making the calls already!
Thanks to everyone who took the time to nominate, you made our job tough, but thoroughly enjoyable.
